Shock and unanswered questions are surrounding the reported death of a woman from Kyankwanzi identified as Nakibuuka Irene<\/span>, who had made disturbing claims of abduction and torture following the 2026 elections.<\/p>\n

Irene from Ntewe village, had alleged that masked army officers picked her up on January 15th while she was discussing election results with two other girls. According to her account, the trio was subjected to extreme torture for nearly a month before being released on February 14.<\/p>\n

Irene claimed they were injected with unknown substances, forced to spend nights in water, and at times stripped naked during the ordeal.<\/p>\n

After her release, she reportedly sought medical attention at Mulago Hospital, where tests revealed multiple serious conditions, including HIV, tuberculosis, ascites, and Kaposi sarcoma.<\/p>\n

However, her situation became even more complicated as sources say Irene later escaped from treatment and refused further medical care, reportedly battling depression and trauma after the alleged ordeal.<\/p>\n

Activists, including Yub Denis and Agather Atuhaire, stepped in and even raised funds to support her. But despite the efforts, they admitted they were unable to independently verify her claims or directly link her illnesses to the alleged torture.<\/p>\n

Her death has now left more questions than answers. Was she telling the full truth? What exactly happened during that one month? And if there was wrongdoing, who is responsible?<\/p>\n

City commentator and journalist Jim Spire weighed in with a heavy message, saying:<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s dead! For them it\u2019s just politics, for another family it is a loved one gone, just because she held a different political opinion! How do you expect others to feel your pain when you are directly killing their own! Can we ever have peace where we\u2019ve inflicted such pointless permanent pain on others?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

As the country continues to process post-election tensions, Irene\u2019s story adds another layer to the growing concerns around human rights, misinformation, and the deep political divide.<\/p>\n

I am deeply saddened by the passing of Irene Nakibuuka who was abducted a day after elections, taken to an unknown place until recently when she was dumped with wounds and bruises.<\/p>\n
