The Executive Director of the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA), Hajjat Sharifah Buzeki has opened up about the big plan of combating heavy traffic jam from Kampala major routes by introducing Electric Buses, LRT Trains and banning of private vehicles from the city.<\/span><\/p>\n

Through her X handle, Hajjat Sharifah Buzeki detailed KCCA’s five-year plan which includes electric buses on major routes, bus rapid transit from Mukono to Kampala and beyond, and light rail to suburbs like Kira and Matugga. <\/span><\/p>\n

The strategy aims to shift residents from private cars to walking, cycling, or mass transit, backed by World Bank funding for an initial 14km BRT corridor and Uganda Railways’ expansion to Bujjuko.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She said that; “We plan to introduce Electric buses, engagements with local bus service providers are ongoing.The buses will be deployed along the major corridors. Working with Ministry of Works and Transport and Uganda Railway”<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n
