National Unity Platform (NUP) has lost another soldier in Rwampara after their flag bearer for the Woman MP seat, Sarah Kiconco crossing over to the National Resistance Movement (NRM).<\/p>\n
Ms. Kiconco announced<\/span> <\/strong><\/a>her decision to switch camps on Tuesday, effectively withdrawing her candidacy for the seat in a move that surprised opposition supporters in the region as she declared her intention to back the NRM flagbearer, Hon. Annah Kansiime, in the upcoming 2026 general elections.<\/p>\n The defection was formalized during a meeting with the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Thomas Tayebwa, who is also the Ruhinda North Member of Parliament. Mr. Tayebwa welcomed Ms. Kiconco to the ruling party, describing her transition as a testament to the NRM\u2019s growing appeal and stable leadership.<\/p>\n Mr. Tayebwa noted that Ms. Kiconco\u2019s decision reflects a broader desire for unity and collective progress as the country approaches a critical electoral cycle.
