Police in Nabweru have arrested nine South Sudanese nationals following the suspected murder of their househelp, whose body remains missing after being discovered with severe head injuries inside a residence in Nansana Municipality.<\/p>\n
The incident occurred on Friday night at a home in Nabweru South Cell One, Nansana Municipality, Wakiso district. Authorities and area residents suspect the body was secretly removed from the premises before police could gain entry.<\/p>\n
The alarm was first raised by a village clinical officer who had been called to the residence by the occupants to treat the maid.<\/p>\n
Justus Nuwagaba, a neighbour and husband to the clinical officer, reported that a woman from the house came to their clinic requesting help for a maid who had allegedly cut herself.<\/p>\n
\u201cWhen my wife arrived, she found the girl with a deep head wound and already dead,\u201d<\/em> Nuwagaba stated. He added that his wife told him the panicked occupants attempted to offer her money to keep quiet, an offer she refused.<\/p>\n Davis Ssekatawa, the area defence secretary, confirmed the account, noting that the clinical officer found the girl with \u201csevere head injuries and confirmed she was already dead.\u201d<\/p>\n When Mr. Ssekatawa and the area chairperson arrived at the scene, the South Sudanese occupants refused to open the door despite repeated identification.<\/p>\n \u201cThe police were also denied access to the house, so we spent the night guarding it,\u201d<\/em> Ssekatawa said.<\/p>\n On Saturday morning, authorities were finally forced to enter the premises. \u201cWe forced entry and searched the premises with the police, but the body was nowhere to be found,\u201d <\/em>Ssekatawa confirmed. \u201cHowever, bloodstains were visible in the compound, suggesting that someone died there.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n The residents are now demanding a thorough investigation to locate the maid\u2019s remains, identify her, and hold all suspects accountable.<\/p>\n Investigations have so far led to the arrest of the nine South Sudanese nationals found inside the residence.
