A new event called Afrikanity<\/em> was officially launched on Saturday, October 11th, 2025, at the home of the African Golden Cat Conservation Alliance (AGCCA) in Akright City, bringing together culture lovers, conservationists, and creatives for a celebration of African heritage.<\/p>\n

Afrikanity is a fresh initiative designed to reconnect Africans, especially urban dwellers, with their roots, traditions, and the continent\u2019s unique wildlife. The program is an extension of AGCCA\u2019s ongoing mission to protect Africa\u2019s rarest wild cat species, the African golden cat (known locally as embaki<\/em>).<\/p>\n

Since 2019, AGCCA has been championing wildlife conservation across 19 African countries through community-led efforts. With Afrikanity, they\u2019re now taking the cultural route, blending art, music, food, storytelling, and fashion to remind Africans of who they are and where they come from.<\/p>\n

The launch itself was pure African magic featuring live performances from Kenneth Mugabi and BigTril, a mouthwatering traditional BBQ, local brews, and soulful storytelling by the ekyooto<\/em> (fireplace).<\/p>\n

Top Ugandan creatives including painters, fashion designers, photographers, hairstylists, and content creators showed up in style, adding color and energy to the event.<\/p>\n

Afrikanity operates on an open-door concept , meaning individuals, families, and communities are all welcome to visit, share, and celebrate their Africanness.<\/p>\n
