Ugandan music heavyweight Bebe Cool<\/strong> has called on the government to set aside $8 million every year<\/strong> to support local music talent and take Ugandan sound to the global stage.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

While speaking in Ntungamo over the weekend<\/strong>, the Gagamel boss passionately pitched his vision: pick four promising artists<\/strong> \u2014 two male and two female \u2014 and invest $1 million in each<\/strong> annually to push their brands internationally.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThat\u2019s only $8 million a year \u2014 less than UGX 25 billion \u2014 and we can have our own global stars. The UK is doing it. Tanzania is doing it. Diamond Platnumz is the proof,\u201d<\/em> Bebe Cool said.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

He insisted that this isn\u2019t about charity, it\u2019s smart investment with major returns for the country. And guess what? Tanzanian star Diamond Platnumz<\/strong> was right there backing him up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWhen you invest in artists, you\u2019re not gambling. You\u2019re creating jobs. I came here with 24 people \u2014 that\u2019s 24 families I\u2019m supporting. This industry feeds people!\u201d<\/em> Diamond explained.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n\n\n

The \u201cJeje\u201d hitmaker urged Ugandans not to turn the idea into a political debate, stressing that investing in creatives is national development<\/strong> too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDon\u2019t politicize it. This isn\u2019t about one artist. It\u2019s about impact. Invest in music the way you invest in roads \u2014 we build dreams that pay back double.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Bebe Cool emphasized that just like the government supports athletes and other sectors, the entertainment industry deserves the same energy \u2014 not just talk, but real money<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
