The Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) has suspended upcoming musician Dynaso Wegoso’s trending song “Mukube Paver”, citing concerns that the song promotes violence and dangerous behavior, they have also called upon him.

The comes after a wave of complaints about both the lyrics and visuals, which regulators say appear to glorify aggressive acts.

The song itself went viral on TikTok with challenges where users mimicking actions of grabbing and throwing bricks referred to as “pavers” in ways that many believe could easily lead to real-life harm, especially among youth trying to recreate the scenes.

UCC has now taken a hard stance. The regulator has ordered all media houses, DJs, TV stations, and digital platforms to immediately stop airing, sharing, or promoting the song in any form.

Dynaso Wegoso has also been summoned to appear before the Commission on April 18 to explain himself.

UCC warned that anyone who ignores the directive risks serious penalties, including heavy fines or even jail time.
