The motorsport world is in deep mourning after the shocking and painful death of five-year-old Nalwanga, daughter of legendary rally driver Susan ‘Super Lady’ Muwonge who tragically lost her life in a freak motocross accident.

Over the weekend, what was supposed to be a normal training day at Garuga Race Track turned into an absolute nightmare.

According to eyewitnesses, Nalwanga – who had just started following in her famous mum’s footsteps – was in the middle of a junior training session with another young rider. The two accidentally collided and fell onto the track… and that’s when disaster struck.

A senior category biker, reportedly mid-air performing a jump, landed on the same section of the track — with his motorcycle hitting Nalwanga directly on the head. The impact was fatal. 😭

She was quickly rushed to Kisubi Hospital but sadly didn’t make it. The news has left everyone stunned. Motorsport lovers, fellow riders, friends, and family are still trying to process how such a tragic thing could happen in a space that’s meant to nurture future talent.

“This is a dark day,” one racer at the scene said through tears. “She was brave. Just like her mum. Always smiling. Always ready in her tiny racing suit.”

Nalwanga had already become a familiar face around the track – her spirit, her confidence, her love for the sport… it was all too beautiful to be cut short this way.

Officials at the Uganda Motorsport Arena have confirmed they’re launching an urgent investigation into how juniors and senior riders ended up on the same track during a jump session. Early reports suggest the senior rider had no idea that children had fallen beneath the jump path.

Meanwhile, mourners are flocking to Susan Muwonge’s home in Kawempe to offer comfort. Many can’t hold back tears. The pain is just too much. A young soul, full of promise and passion, lost doing what she loved most — chasing wheels.

The Uganda Motorsport Federation has promised stricter safety guidelines moving forward, especially where juniors are concerned. But for now, the community is grieving — hard.

Burial arrangements for Nalwanga are ongoing.

Rest in power, little champion. 🕊️
You raced with the angels far too soon. 💔
