There’s always that one fan who stands out—and for songstress Spice Diana, it’s the 15-year-old Kalyango Umar. If you’ve been following her charity campaigns, then you’ve definitely seen or heard about this young boy everyone refers to as her Husband.
Who is Kalyango Umar?
Kalyango isn’t just any child at the Dina Special Children Foundation—he was the first child ever welcomed at the home back when it was still located in Kiwatule, a township within the city of Kampala.
Spice Diana first met Kalyango in 2021, and since then, the two have shared a bond that can only be described as beautiful.
At the time, little Kalyango was full of energy despite his struggles with walking and speech. To Spice Diana’s suprise, he already knew most of her songs! Yes, even with difficulty expressing himself, he’d light up at the sound of her voice and would hum or sing along. Spice says every visit ended with him joyfully bragging about her presence—even joking that she was his girlfriend.

“I first met Kalyango back in 2021, he was the first child we ever brought at the Foundation and to my surprise, he was a huge fan of mine. He could sing some of my songs and would light up with joy every time we met.When I left he could tell everyone he’s my husband”– Spice Diana said.
It didn’t stop there. When the foundation relocated to Mpigi, Kalyango moved with it, and so did the connection. Up to now, every time Spice Diana shows up, it’s as if the world stops just for the two of them. The way they laugh, hug, and enjoy each other’s company is enough to melt even the coldest heart.
Honestly, if you ever hear anyone call Kalyango “Spice Diana’s husband,” don’t be surprised—it’s a running joke at the foundation, and even Spice herself plays along with it sometimes. It’s not about fame or fanfare—it’s about a deep, emotional bond between a star and a young soul who sees her as so much more than just a singer.
