Rajiv Ruparelia

The Ruparelia family has officially confirmed that Rajiv Ruparelia, the son of Ugandan business mogul Sudhir Ruparelia and managing director of the Ruparelia Group, will be cremated on Tuesday, May 6th, 2025. The full programme is out.

Rajiv’s sudden and tragic passing in the early hours of Saturday morning—after his car crashed and burst into flames near the Busabala Flyover—has cast a somber shadow over the nation. The 35-year-old businessman was driving alone in a white Nissan GTR when the accident occurred. He died at the scene.

In a heartfelt statement released to the public, the Ruparelia family expressed their profound grief and shared details of the upcoming farewell:

“It is with a deep and heavy heart that we announce the passing of our son Rajiv Ruparelia early this morning. Cremation will be held at the Hindu crematorium in Lugogo at 2.30pm, Tuesday 6th May 2025. The family asks that their privacy be respected during this tough and trying time. Vigil is at the Ruparelia residence in Kololo until then. Om Shanti.”

Since the announcement, condolences have poured in from across the country — from political leaders and corporate heads to fans, friends, and fellow citizens who watched Rajiv grow into a pillar of Uganda’s business community.

As Uganda prepares to lay him to rest, the heartbreak remains fresh, and the questions surrounding the accident continue to stir.

But for now, the country mourns. And on Tuesday, it will say goodbye.
