President Yoweri Museveni and First Lady Janet Kataaha Museveni have celebrated 25 years of marriage for their daughter Natasha Museveni Karugire and her husband, lawyer and businessman Edwin Karugire.
In a statement released on Sunday, the President expressed gratitude to God for sustaining the couple since their wedding in 2000, blessing them with children and good health.
“We thanked God for uniting and keeping them together, and for granting them children and health. We commend their marriage journey and wish them continued blessings,” Museveni said.
Natasha, one of the First Family’s four children, is a filmmaker and author known for historical and cultural documentaries such as 27 Guns, which depicts the National Resistance Army’s bush war. Edwin Karugire is a senior partner at Kiryowa Karugire Advocates, a top law firm that has represented several high-profile clients in Uganda.
The couple tied the knot in 2000, and their silver jubilee, according to President Museveni, reflects “the blessings of family and the grace of God in sustaining marriage.”
