We might have just witnessed the wedding of the year—and it didn’t even happen on the continent! On July 28, 2025, Lubwama Eric Michael, the man behind East Africa’s KUNTA Productions and Zoran Construction, married his longtime partner Nantongo Irene Catherine, an engineer, in what can only be described as a royal-level destination wedding at Dromoland Castle, Ireland.

Forget garden weddings and hotel receptions—this was a week-long affair attended by only the crème de la crème: family and very close friends flown in from Uganda, Germany, the UK, Sweden, and beyond.

Guests were not just sipping champagne and posing for the ‘gram—they were out here exploring iconic Irish attractions like the Cliffs of Moher and The Burren, the same spots where major Hollywood films were shot.

And the Irish noticed. The whole thing made it to Ireland’s national TV, RTE, who covered the story and are airing it soon. We’re not even joking—this Ugandan love story went international.

Let’s talk costs, because you know we must. A room at Dromoland Castle, costs over UGX 21 million per night. A single wedding meal? About UGX 1.1 million. But for a couple with such colossal combined achievements, this was probably just “budget.”

Who is Lubwama Eric Michael?

Eric, the groom, isn’t just any businessman. He’s the founder of KUNTA, one of East Africa’s biggest production houses, and Zoran Construction, which has handled U.S. embassy projects and worked with global brands like Coca-Cola, UN, EU, Multichoice, MTN, and the World Bank. With over 537 staff under his leadership, he’s one of the rare Ugandan creatives successfully bridging entertainment, construction, and global business.

Who is Nantongo Irene Catherine?

And the bride, Irene? is not your average “engineer.” She holds three degrees in Energy and Chemical Engineering, and works at Ireland’s national electricity utility, ESB, as an Engineer and Innovation Specialist. Basically, she’s building the future—while looking flawless in a bridal gown, too.

The couple lives in Ireland, but their work spans Uganda, Tanzania, and Europe. Together, they’re launching NYOTA BIGI, a Tanzanian talent search show in partnership with Vodacom (Vodafone) and Serengeti Breweries (Diageo), modeled after Got Talent. This follows the wild success of Uganda’s Yolesa Ekitone, which KUNTA also created.

Choosing Dromoland Castle—a favourite wedding venue of celebs like David Beckham—was no accident. It matched the scale, vision, and fairytale aesthetic of a couple that’s clearly operating on billionaire blueprint levels.

Below is their Beautiful Wedding Album:

Congrats to Eric and Irene—your love story is the bar now.
