It was an emotional moment at House of Prayer Ministries International as Pastor Aloysius Bugingo broke down in front of his congregation, expressing a deep longing to reunite with his estranged wife, Teddy Naluswa Bugingo, and their children, He also opened up about his hope for twins with his current partner Susan Makula.
“I miss my family. I want my children back and to reconcile with Teddy,” Bugingo said, his voice cracking as tears welled up in his eyes—leaving many worshippers in silent shock and others moved to tears.
Bugingo, known for baring his soul during sermons, went on to name each of his children in prayer—Gift Kirabo Bugingo, Winnie Treasure Bugingo, Jennifer Blessed Bugingo, and Isaac Bugingo—saying he last saw his only son, Isaac, when he was just three years old. Now older, Bugingo admits the distance has taken a toll on his heart.
The preacher’s split from Teddy, mother of his children, has been one of the most public and controversial separations in Ugandan celebrity circles. After parting ways with her, Bugingo began a relationship with Susan Makula, his former radio producer, whom he has introduced as his new wife and co-pastor for the past seven years.
But despite the smiles often shared by Bugingo and Makula in public, the pastor confessed that not having a child together has been a heavy burden, especially on Susan, who is constantly criticized and mocked for it.
“People insult her for not giving me a child. But I feel loved, I am well cared for,” Bugingo reassured Makula in front of the congregation. “Some homes have children but no happiness. Ours has peace and love,” he added.
Bugingo then passionately asked the church to join him in prayer—prayer for reconciliation with his family, and for God to bless Makula with twins.
