Pastor Aloysius Bugingo has reportedly been left off the guest list for his daughter Doreen Gift Bugingo’s upcoming traditional introduction ceremony (Kwanjula), in a development that has stirred fresh controversy around his strained relationship with his family.
According to close sources, Doreen, who is the eldest of three children from Pastor Bugingo’s previous marriage to Teddy Naluswa, is set to introduce her fiancé in what is expected to be a high-profile ceremony attended by some of Uganda’s most prominent pastors and dignitaries.
Notably, Pastor Robert Kayanja is expected to stand in as a father figure during the event—a decision that has reportedly not gone down well with Pastor Bugingo. Sources claim the outspoken preacher has expressed regret over abandoning his family at a time when they needed him most.
Bugingo’s relationship with his former family soured after he publicly pursued a relationship with his employee-turned-partner, Susan Makula, a move that sparked backlash within Christian circles.
Invitation cards for the ceremony have already been distributed, and several renowned religious leaders, including Pastor Kayanja and his wife Jessica, Pastor Jackson and Eve Ssenyonga, Pastor Imelda Namutebi, Pastor Steven Sserwadda and his wife, and Pastor Irene Manjeri, have confirmed their attendance.
It remains unclear whether any of Bugingo’s estranged family members will reach out to him in the final days leading up to the event. Some sources suggest that an invitation may still be extended, although there’s uncertainty about whether he would accept it.
The tension partly stems from allegations that Bugingo cut off financial support for his children following his split from Teddy Naluswa. Reports indicate that Teddy later sought help from Pastor Kayanja and Pastor Ssenyonga to support her daughters’ education, with one of them, Winnie Treasure, reportedly studying overseas.
