In today’s music world where Afrobeat is topping charts in the U.S., and K-Pop is selling out stadiums in Europe, the boundaries of genre and culture are dissolving. For artistes aiming for longevity, crossing borders musically has become the new standard.

Uganda’s fresh talent Noela is stepping into the right lane with her debut single “Sankara”, blending rhythms with Afrobeat as written by Yese Oman Rafik and produced by Banga Boi.

“I don’t want my music to be boxed in,” Noela shares. “I grew up listening to sounds from all over the world. I want my songs to reflect that—true to my roots but still resonating with someone in London, Lagos, or Los Angeles.”

This approach mirrors a growing industry trend where streaming platforms like; Spotify and Audiomack, alongside TikTok, are catapulting artistes from local obscurity to worldwide recognition overnight. By fusing her cultural identity with international influences, Noela follows the path of global stars like Burna Boy, Ayra Starr, and Rosalía, who built international careers while staying grounded in their roots.

Beyond sound, Noela is also focused on strategy—working with both local and international producers, experimenting with multilingual lyrics, and aiming for cross-border collaborations.

With “Sankara,” Noela is planting her flag as an artiste ready for global stages.
