Singer-turned-politician Nina Kankunda aka Nina Roz has refused to accept her defeat in the 2026 general elections, alleging that her votes were deliberately rigged and she is ready to fight for her win.
Taking to her Facebook page shortly after the internet was restored in the country, the Sembabule Woman MP contestant shared a voice recording allegedly captured by her polling station agents from different locations. In the audio, agents are heard reading out results which Nina Roz claims show that she clearly won at several polling stations.
In a strongly worded caption accompanying the recording, Nina Roz accused the Electoral Commission of manipulating the people’s will.
“We demand justice.
This recorded phone call, captured by my people on the ground, lays bare what happened. It reveals the polling stations where I clearly led, yet the Electoral Commission declared completely different results,” she wrote.
She dismissed any suggestion of error, insisting the discrepancies were intentional.
“This was not confusion. It was not coincidence. It was deliberate manipulation of the people’s vote. Ugandans showed up. They voted. And their voices were changed behind closed doors.”
Nina Roz had earlier finished third in the hotly contested Sembabule District Woman MP race, losing to more experienced political players in an election that attracted multiple strong candidates.
