Over the past few years, there has been a rise in the number of female deejays in the country, with many going for the sexy look and swag but just a few months ago, Shel DJ debuted her career and has since proven to front her skill and talent.
Signed under Real DeeJays Ltd, Shel DJ is quickly building a reputation as more than just a DJ. In the booth, she’s known as a “vibe creator,” the kind of selector who doesn’t just play songs but carefully selects and blends genres to keep a crowd locked in from start to finish.
From corporate events to Kampala’s late-night party events, Shel DJ has been steadily carving out a name for herself with energetic sets that mix different sounds and moods.
According to party lovers Blizz Uganda spoke to, what makes Shel DJ stand out is that her talent goes beyond the turntables as she is also a trained sound engineer, meaning she understands the technical side of music just as deeply as the performance side. While many DJs focus on track selection alone, she has spent time working behind the scenes with artists and musicians, helping shape the sound of live performances and studio recordings.
That technical knowledge gives her sets an extra layer of polish and when she steps onto the decks, the sound quality, transitions, and overall experience are carefully crafted rather than improvised.
Her journey is already moving beyond Uganda. After performing at major events across the country, Shel DJ recently took her sound international with performances in Dubai, showcasing Ugandan DJ talent on a global stage.
