Born on 3rd December 1996, Shamil Wamala aka Shamil Cruz Updates is proof that the hustle pays if you push it with consistency. From Katale, Seguku, Wakiso, the 28-year-old content creator is now one of the big names on TikTok when it comes to news updates.
According to Blizz Uganda snoops, Shamil grew up with both parents, received all the love every kid would dream of, but by 18 he decided, “banange let me go hustle my own future.”
Fast forward a few years later, now the boy has rebranded into one of the most sought-after social media bloggers in Uganda. With over 2.6 million followers and 75 million likes on TikTok, Cruz has built a brand that moves from promoting artists’ music, to brand endorsements, and even running gigs for international companies.
Some of the brands he has worked with include Jollo Quality Properties, Nova Skin Care, and Century Properties.
Life hasn’t stayed the same — from the hustle he now lives a comfortable Kampala lifestyle, owns a few assets, and has built networks with the city’s high-class movers and shakers. The man is eating life with a big spoon!
Currently, Cruz is serving as an online media handler at the Office of the National Chairman (ONC) under Hajjat Hadijah Namyalo in Kyambogo. And guess what? He has already announced he will be using his socials to broadcast the 2026 Uganda Elections online.
Cruz says he’s not about to settle for less, promising to spread his wings beyond Uganda. He wants more international gigs and is gunning for global influence.
