Kyengera Town Council Mayor, Sir Mathias Mulumba Walukagga has officially given up and thrown his weight behind Emmanuel Magoola in the Busiro East parliamentary race ahead of the 2026 general elections after his disqualification.
Walukagga, who was the National Unity Platform (NUP) flag bearer for Busiro East, announced that he will be seconding Magoola, who is contesting as an Independent candidate.
The endorsement comes shortly after Walukagga was disqualified from the race over lack of the required Senior Six qualification, effectively ending his personal bid for the seat.

With Walukagga now stepping aside, his support is expected to give Magoola a major boost, especially among NUP supporters and voters in Kyengera and surrounding areas where the mayor commands strong grassroots influence.
The Busiro East race is shaping up to be highly competitive as alliances shift following a wave of disqualifications ahead of the 2026 polls.
