Uganda’s entertainment industry is in mourning following the sudden death of legendary DJ Bush Baby, real name Michael Benjamin Owor, who was found lifeless today, 5th June 2025 inside his Entebbe Studio.
Reports indicate that Bush Baby had been battling health issues for a few years. Just two days before his passing, he posted a video on his X (formerly Twitter) account dancing joyfully with his sister. In the heartfelt caption, he wrote:
“It’s the little things that make life big for me. True happiness is elusive. Recently, I shared a joyful moment with my ❤️ lovely last born baby sister, CHERRY 🍒. Indescribable JOY!
Still feels like my last 🕺 dance.”
That post, now painfully prophetic, was his final public message.

The celebrated DJ was discovered unresponsive in his studio in Entebbe, where he had recently relocated. Friends and family are currently awaiting police to transfer his body to a nearby mortuary for a postmortem.
DJ Bush Baby was a pioneer in Uganda’s urban music scene. He played a key role in introducing and popularizing hip-hop, R&B, and contemporary urban music to local audiences. His influence shaped the careers of countless DJs and music lovers across East Africa.
Burial and vigil arrangements are not yet confirmed. More details will be shared as they come in.
