Fatuma Nanfuka, the widow of fallen Kawempe North MP Muhammad Ssegirinya, is gravely ill and urgently in need of medical assistance, according to her family She has come out and asked for help.

Currently bedridden at her sister’s home in Kampala, Nanfuka is battling what has been described as a kidney-related illness, and her condition has reportedly worsened since June 13.

Her sister, Miriam Kasirye, says they’ve tried reaching out to both Parliament and the government for help—but no support has been forthcoming.

“She has never been the same since his death. She has been in a terrible state since June 13,” Kasirye told reporters.

Speaking in a frail voice, Nanfuka said the pain in her lower abdomen is unbearable and that she’s become too weak to carry out even basic tasks.

I have too much pain in my lower abdomen,” she said. “It’s getting worse.”

The family has now made a public appeal for help from well-wishers, charitable organisations, and the government to step in and provide support for her treatment, which is currently out of their financial reach.

Nanfuka’s late husband, MP Ssegirinya, died earlier this year after a long illness. A fiery legislator and key figure in the National Unity Platform (NUP), his passing left a major gap both in Ugandan politics and in his family’s life. His widow’s ongoing health struggles have only deepened the tragedy.

We’ll update with further details if any official support is extended
