Two Kampala girls, Shantel and Princess, have officially entered the “embarrassment of the year” after allegedly trying to blackmail socialite Shakib Cham Lutaaya, aka Mr. Zari Hassan, over some vacation house videos.

It all started when the two girls posted Instagram and Snapchat clips inside Shakib’s house, captioning them things like “my baby” and even referring to Zari as their “co-wife.” You know Ugandans don’t play with celeb marriages — especially when it involves The Boss Lady.

Turns out, according to the girls themselves, the whole thing might’ve just been a clout-chasing mess gone too far. During a press conference (yes, they held one), Princess claimed it was her friend Shantel who got invited by OJ, one of Shakib’s close homies. She tagged along, fell in love with the decor, and started filming like she was on HGTV.

“I was just excited by the art and vibe in the house,” Princess said. “I posted videos because it was beautiful — I didn’t even know it was Shakib’s place!”

But things spiraled out of control real quick when a Snapchat account named “Esther Collection” texted Shakib demanding UGX 5 million — or else the videos (which looked like evidence of cheating) would be sent to Zari. Blackmail, full stop.

Shakib didn’t waste time. Man ran straight to Police.

The girls were arrested and dragged into a public apology parade, even going on Sanyuka TV to cry and point fingers at each other. Shantel said she just posted what Princess sent. Princess said she just filmed but didn’t add the captions. Both of them swore they weren’t behind the blackmail — claiming some unknown third party screen-recorded their status and twisted it into a full-fledged scandal.

Princess even knelt in the air (yes, like literally begged while squatting) asking Shakib and Zari to forgive her. You can’t make this stuff up.

Police are now pressing the girls to help track down the actual blackmailer, as the internet keeps roasting them for clout-chasing gone wrong.
