In a historic celebration at Karuzika Palace, Fort Portal, Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among carried the flag for President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni during Ekyooto Ha Mpango, 30th Coronation Anniversary of His Majesty Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV.
Delivering the President’s tribute, Speaker Among praised the Tooro monarch for his three decades of visionary leadership, highlighting his role in preserving culture while driving socio-economic progress.
“Our cultural institutions are pillars of identity and engines of progress. Omukama Oyo’s leadership has safeguarded Tooro’s heritage while nurturing a partnership with government that secures peace, stability, and shared prosperity for our nation,” the message read.
President Museveni commended the King for complementing government programmes in education, health, and youth empowerment, stressing that cultural institutions remain vital forces in national development.
The four-day festivities, which began on September 10 and end on September 13, 2025, have been organized by Talent Africa Group with support from Pepsi, Capital Radio, Uganda Tourism Board, and Pilsner Lager. The celebration has blended culture and entertainment, attracting thousands from across the country.
The grand finale is set for tomorrow, headlined by celebrated performer Cindy Sanyu, alongside Atwooki Richie, Irene Hinda, Muzamiru, Big Doug, Zaya Rossette, DJ Hash, and MC Droppa. The music festival promises to close the anniversary on a high note, fusing culture, rhythm, and modern entertainment.
The 30th Coronation Anniversary has become more than a Tooro Kingdom celebration. With Speaker Among representing the President, the event has taken on a national significance, shining a light on the role of culture as a cornerstone of Uganda’s unity and progress.
