Kamuli District LC5 Chairperson Charles Maxwell Mugude has died following a fatal road accident along the Kayunga–Galiraya road as he was reportedly on his way to pick nomination papers.

The tragic incident occurred on the morning of Thursday, June 12, 2025, as Mugude was reportedly on his way to pick nomination papers from the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission offices in preparation for the upcoming party primaries. He was seeking re-election to continue serving as Kamuli District Chairperson.

According to initial reports, the accident involved a head-on collision between Mugude’s vehicle and a sugarcane truck. Mugude was behind the wheel at the time of the crash. Details about the cause of the accident and whether there were other occupants in the vehicle remain unclear as investigations continue.
