A Uganda Prisons van knocked down a journalist at the already tense Ggaba murder trial scene after it reportedly failed to brake while reversing, hitting Ronald Mulwana in the middle of a heavy media coverage.
The incident happened at Ggaba Community Church Grounds around 7AM, where a Toyota Hiace belonging to Uganda Prisons knocked Mulwana, a journalist with PL ON TV, and left him unconscious with serious head injuries.
Eyewitnesses say security officers quickly rushed in to assist him as the situation briefly turned chaotic.
This all unfolded during coverage of the high-profile case involving Christopher Okello Onyum, who is facing four counts of murder following the brutal April 2 machete attack that killed four toddlers at a daycare in Makindye.
The case has drawn massive public attention, especially after Yoweri Museveni ordered that the trial be conducted publicly in the interest of transparency.
Despite the shocking accident, court proceedings reportedly continued as authorities secured the scene.
As of now, no official statement has been released by Uganda Prisons or police regarding the incident.
Okello is not alone at all, tatudde.
I only hope the journalist who was knocked by the prison van transporting the suspected murderer is still alive. https://t.co/lb1PFBJx6Z
