Ugandan music legend Joseph Mayanja, popularly known as Jose Chameleone, has once again paid heartfelt tribute to the late Mowzey Radio, calling him “irreplaceable” and a once-in-a-lifetime talent.
In an interview with a Kenyan television station, the Leone Island Music Empire boss praised Radio’s unique genius, describing him as someone who “lived in a different world” and saw life from an angle that few artists could ever comprehend.
“Everybody knows Radio as a very talented person. There will never be another Mowzey Radio,” Chameleone said passionately. “He was living in a different world and saw life differently.”
For Chameleone, this was not just empty praise. He was one of the first people to believe in Radio’s potential, giving him a platform under the Leone Island crew to kick-start his journey in music before the formation of the iconic Radio & Weasel duo.
Over the years, Mowzey Radio proved to be a rare gem — a poetic lyricist, masterful songwriter, and soulful vocalist whose influence transcended borders. Even after his untimely passing in 2018, Radio’s music has continued to resonate with fans and fellow artists alike, keeping his name and legacy alive.

His influence can still be felt in the current generation of Ugandan musicians, many of whom credit him for opening creative doors and setting a standard for lyrical depth and emotional expression.
Radio’s impact is so deep that even in death, he continues to dominate conversations in the music industry. His writing credits are unmatched, and his music — rich in emotion, soul, and meaning — remains timeless.
“Radio was a musical genius. He had his own way of looking at the world — through music, through words. That’s what made him different,” Chameleone added.
Since his passing, life has never been the same for his music partner Weasel, with fans frequently mourning not just the man but what more he could have become.
