Music icon Joseph Mayanja, widely known as Jose Chameleone, was granted an audience with Burundi’s President, General Evariste Ndayishimiye at the Mwami Ntare Rushatsi Palace (the Burundi State House) for a high-profile meeting in which he promised to build a high-end recording studio.
According to a social media statement from the Burundi Presidency, thus meeting was for Chameleone to present his projects aimed at supporting Burundian youth to the President, whom they refer to as the “Champion of African Youth.
The major proposal presented by the singer is the establishment of an ultramodern music studio in Burundi as Chameleone is actively exploring business and investment opportunities in Burundi, a country where he has long maintained a large and enthusiastic fan base.
Blizz Uganda was alerted that this establishment of a state-of-the-art studio would not only tap into the country’s youth market but also provide significant infrastructure support for the local arts scene.
The Mwami Ntare Rushatsi Palace, where the meeting took place, is a modern complex in the Gasenyi district, north of Bujumbura, inaugurated in 2019 and named after the first legendary King of Burundi, Ntare I Rushatsi.
