Mandela National Stadium, has officially been accepted by CAF to host matches for the African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2024, after an intense 8-day inspection tour by CAF officials.
Their checklist? Everything from access roads and media boxes, to broadcast capabilities, security, and where visiting teams will lay their heads after matchday drama. And Namboole passed the check.
Unlike AFCON, CHAN (African Nations Championship) is strictly for home-based players — those who play in their country’s local league. So no foreign-based pros or European glam squads here. It’s pure, raw local talent repping their roots on the continental stage.
It’s the tournament where you could see your neighborhood striker turn into a national hero — or your boda guy become a trending topic after scoring a screamer.
August 2 – August 30, 2024. Mark your calendars, cancel those unnecessary trips, and start prepping for a month of serious kavuyo, vuvuzelas, and heart-racing football.
This is big for Uganda:
-
A chance to showcase our stadium revamp at Namboole.
-
An opportunity for local stars to shine, earn contracts, or become cult heroes.
-
A tourism and business boost from visiting teams and fans.
Get your jerseys out. Support local. CHAN 2024 is coming home — and home is Namboole!
