Singer-turned-politician Geoffrey Lutaaya (NUP) has officially dragged his Kakuuto County rival Ismail Lubega Kaka (NRM) to the High Court, contesting the January 2026 election results.
Lutaaya, who lost by a tight margin, is now asking court to intervene, claiming the entire process was flawed and did not reflect the true will of the voters.
Official results had Lubega winning with 11,344 votes against Lutaaya’s 10,229 a difference of just over 1,100 votes. But Lutaaya has never accepted those results, and now he’s taking the fight where it matters most, the courtroom.
In his petition filed on April 2, Lutaaya is raising serious concerns about how the results were handled. He claims that at least 909 votes from three polling stations were ignored despite appearing on official Declaration of Results (DR) forms.
He is also alleging outright manipulation of results after voting, insisting that what was announced by the Electoral Commission does not match what was recorded on the ground.
Immediately after results were declared back in January, Lutaaya protested and even caused a scene at the tally centre before he was reportedly removed. Since then, he has been consistent accusing the Electoral Commission and NRM operatives of interfering with the process.
