Band singer Princess Amira has finally opened up about her relationship with State Minister for Microfinance, Haruna Kasolo, she has confirmed that she’s now officially a Muslim and has changed her name to Amira Kasolo, out of love and respect for her husband.
“I took the Shahada and received a new name; currently, I am Amira Kasolo. I am his favorite wife, and I honor him every day,” she said proudly, adding that their Nikah (Islamic wedding) already happened quietly.
She revealed that their ceremony was low-key and private—deliberately kept away from the public eye because, as she put it, “It didn’t matter to the public.” What does matter to her, though, is loving her man.
Amira said she even shut down her restaurant business just to focus fully on her marriage and now rarely performs in town. “I am personally focused on that at the moment: loving my husband and more along those lines,” she shared.
But while she’s confidently calling herself the Minister’s favorite, his public wife Aisha Kasolo doesn’t seem to agree. The two have had ongoing tension, and earlier this year Aisha made it clear she doesn’t recognize Amira as one of Kasolo’s wives.
“I don’t know Princess Amira. I know all his wives, and they are even registered in the marriage registry. I have never seen her as my co-wife because I doubt they are married,” Aisha said back in January.
With Amira now stepping forward with her version of events, it looks like the drama in the Kasolo household isn’t cooling down anytime soon.
