Ugandan singer Ndugwa Deus aka Grenade Official has finally been released following his arrest in Beijing, China, over the weekend. He has a deep story to tell.

Grenade was detained on Sunday, June 15, 2025, after allegedly violating Chinese immigration laws by performing at events while on a tourist visa — a serious offense in the country.

The news of his arrest broke after his management issued a statement confirming the incident, explaining that Grenade had traveled to China on a tourist visa but went ahead to perform at a show without securing the required work permit.

Speaking out on the matter, his manager Joram Mukisa admitted that the team had underestimated the strictness of Chinese immigration policies regarding foreign entertainers.

The incident has sparked conversations online, with fans urging artists to ensure they follow legal procedures when traveling abroad for performances.

As of now, Grenade is yet to reveal whether he plans to continue with the rest of his scheduled activities in China or return home.

We’ll keep you updated on any new developments.
