Daudi Mugema Dies in Gulu Hotel Following Long Battle With Cancer

Sad news has hit the Ugandan music industry after longtime Gospel singer Daudi Mugema being pronounced dead today, June 24, 2025 as he was found in a Gulu Hotel.

For the past couple of years, Mugema has been fighting for his life after being diagnosed with cancer. According to what he shared in different interviews, all his health troubles started after being arrested and detained at Kireka Police Station, where he developed serious complications in his feet.

When doctors at the Uganda Cancer Institute checked him out, they discovered it was cancer.

Things only got tougher from there.

He underwent chemotherapy, and at some point, was always seen wearing a cape, hiding the hair loss that came with the brutal treatment. Amidst all that struggle, Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago stepped in and helped him travel to Turkey for specialized treatment.

When he returned from Turkey, Mugema told everyone that he was recovering and was full of hope. But sadly, his health took another bad turn. In his final days, he was reportedly in Gulu seeking financial help from Gen. Salim Saleh under Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) to support his ongoing treatment.

Unfortunately, the fight ended today.

As expected, the news of his passing has left fans and fellow artists broken, flooding social media with heartfelt tributes to honor the fallen icon.

Rest in power, Daudi Mugema. Your voice will never be forgotten.
