If you thought Cindy Sanyu had slowed down after that record-breaking Cricket Oval concert before Covid, think again. The “King Herself” returned in full force on Friday night with her much-hyped Royal Experience Concert at Millennium Grounds, Lugogo—and trust Cindy, she did not come to play.
Cindy’s night clashed with Dax Vibez’s maiden concert at UMA Showgrounds and Craig David’s World of Sound show at Sheraton Gardens. But even with all that stiff competition, thousands of Cyndicates still stormed Millennium Grounds and stood by their queen until the very last beat dropped.
By 10:20 pm, when Cindy finally stormed the stage, the energy was already sky high. She rolled out bangers like Boom Party, Ayokyayokya, One and Only, Mateeka, Run The City, and Zalawo—leaving fans screaming along word for word. Yes, there was a mini sound glitch that forced her off stage for 15 minutes, but Cindy handled it like the boss she is, even freestyling for fans before returning with a live band that totally elevated the show.
The night wasn’t just about Cindy. She shared the stage with industry heavyweights and fresh stars alike—Ziza Bafana, Karole Kasita, Vyper Ranking, Omega 256, and even gave fans goosebumps with a long-awaited Blu*3 reunion alongside Jackie Chandiru and Lilian Mbabazi. That throwback moment alone had the crowd losing it.
And just when you thought it was all dancehall and fire, Cindy switched gears, surprising everyone with gospel vibes like Pastor Okudi’s Wipolo and Brenda Fassie’s The Lord Is My Shepherd.
From dancehall to nostalgia, collaborations to powerful solo moments, Cindy Sanyu reminded Uganda why she’s still the one and only “King Herself.” Despite the technical hiccups and the congested events weekend, she owned the night, and once again proved her crown is still firmly on her head.
