The body of Cedric Ndilima Babu, a beloved media personality, sports administrator, and son of former Kampala Central MP Captain Francis Babu, has finally arrived at Entebbe International Airport ahead of his burial.

Cedric, who passed away on Saturday, May 31, at Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi due to heart complications, has been brought back home ahead of his final send-off scheduled for Saturday, June 7 in Kamengo.

After touching down at Entebbe, the body was transported to Uganda Funeral Services in Bukoto.

Here’s how the farewell journey will go down:

Funeral Programme Highlights

  • Wednesday & Thursday (June 4–5): Vigil at Cedric’s home in Kololo, Plot 1, Fumu Close, starting at 5PM.
  • Thursday, June 5: Body taken to Lugogo Indoor Stadium, where the sports fraternity and public can pay their last respects to the former tennis icon.
  • Friday, June 6: Requiem Mass at Rubaga Cathedral (time to be confirmed), followed by transportation of the body to his ancestral home in Kamengo.
  • Saturday, June 7: Final Burial Ceremony in Kamengo, Mpigi District.

Cedric wasn’t just the son of a prominent politician—he was a celebrated sportsman, a voice in media, and a rising political figure in his own right. He served as Vice Chairman of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) for Kampala and was seen as a vibrant leader, especially in youth mobilisation through sports.

His death at just 46 years old has left a huge gap in both the political and sporting arenas, and tributes continue to pour in.
