Media personality and sports administrator Cedric Babu Ndilima is currently admitted in the ICU at a Nairobi hospital, fighting severe heart failure after the 46-year-old collapsed during a recent trip to Kigali, Rwanda, and had to be urgently airlifted to Kenya after his condition worsened.
Doctors have since confirmed he urgently needs a heart transplant, a complex and costly procedure that must be done in London.
Now, family, friends, and well-wishers are rallying to raise £300,000 (approx. UGX 1.5 billion) to save his life.
“Cedric — our father, brother, son, uncle, friend, and bright light — is currently in the ICU, courageously fighting for his life… His only chance of survival now lies in a heart transplant,” the family said in a heartfelt public appeal.
Cedric Babu is no ordinary Ugandan. A familiar face on TV since the early 2000s, Cedric won hearts with his charisma, creativity, and passion for youth empowerment. He later transitioned into sports administration, serving as President of the Uganda Boxing Federation, and even took a shot at politics, contesting for MP in Kampala Central in 2021.
He is also the son of renowned politician Capt. Francis Babu, and has been a powerful voice in shaping Uganda’s entertainment and youth development spaces for over 20 years.
The Campaign to Save Cedric
The campaign to raise funds is already live via GoFundMe, with thousands being mobilized across social media. Some have questioned why a man of Cedric’s status is in need of public donations, but loved ones say this is bigger than politics or privilege — it’s a matter of life and death.
“Every donation, big or small, brings us one step closer to giving Cedric the second chance he desperately needs,” his family added.
