Ugandan rapper, singer-songwriter, and mental health activist Buka Chimey has finally put the dating rumours to rest—and in the most poetic way possible. The “Beer After Beer” singer has penned a heartfelt birthday message to longtime Germany based girlfriend, Mabel the Empress, confirming for the first time that she holds the key to his heart.
While Buka has previously been linked to various women—including fellow singer Angella Katatumba—he had never publicly acknowledged any romantic relationship. That changed today when he poured his soul into a moving tribute that felt more like a love letter than a birthday message.
“Today, heaven must be smiling, because a true queen was born…” Buka began, before going on to praise Mabel’s strength, leadership, and unwavering vision.
In the message, he called Mabel a “daily reminder that God answers prayers,” and invoked Psalm 46:5 to declare her unshakable grace and purpose. He also blessed her ongoing ventures, including The Empress Cup and Culture Connect Festival, calling them legacies in the making.
“You were born to lead, to uplift, and to shine—and baby, you’re doing it with such grace,” he wrote, signing off as “your number one fan, your prayer partner, your king.”
Fans have since flooded the comments with birthday wishes and heart emojis, many shocked (in a good way) that Buka had finally shown the world his queen.
Happy birthday to Mabel.
