National Unity Platform (NUP) president and 2026 presidential hopeful Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, aka Bobi Wine, pulled massive crowds in Kasanda District today, for his campaigns and promised to return their “stolen” gold if elected president.
Thousands of supporters dressed in red flooded Bukuya Town and neighboring trading centers, turning the streets into a wave of NUP colors and chants with “People Power, Our Power,” while others carried placards calling for a “New Uganda.”
Addressing the crowd, Bobi Wine centered his message on economic justice, resource control, and police welfare. He accused the current government of exploiting the district’s gold resources and vowed to return wealth to the local communities.
“Your gold which is being stolen by Museveni’s family can construct all your roads,” he said, drawing loud cheers from supporters.

He also promised to reform the police force under an NUP government, pledging a minimum salary of UGX 1 million for police officers to promote professionalism and curb corruption within the force.
The rally, however, faced brief disruptions as police allegedly blocked the main venue, forcing organizers to shift to another location. Despite the tension, the event went on smoothly, with supporters determined to hear from their leader.
Later in the afternoon, Mubende town was painted red as crowds prepared for the 3 PM rally at Kyenguluuso Playground, after authorities denied them access to Kasaana Playground in the town center.
