Ugandan music royalty Juliana Kanyomozi has heaped praise on Bebe Cool’s upcoming album, Break the Chains, calling it “the best a Ugandan album has ever sounded” after getting a first listen ahead of its official release on Friday, May 30.
The album has already sparked controversy — mostly for Bebe’s bold shift in musical direction. Since the drop of its two early singles, “Circumference” and “Motivation”, fans and critics alike have been excited. Now, with just days to the official release, Juliana’s endorsement may be the final push the project needs to cement its moment.
In a video shared by Bebe Cool, Juliana, who attended an exclusive listening session, couldn’t hide her admiration.
“It’s an honor to be invited to listen to this album. Bebe and I have grown together in this industry… and what excites me about this new sound is how different he sounds. He’s so versatile — it’s something I truly admire,” she said.
She went on to credit Bebe Cool’s evolution to years of resilience and hard work, calling his current musical maturity a well-earned achievement. Juliana also shared that she’d been hearing of private listening sessions and was delighted when the call to attend hers finally came through.
“When you hear this album, it’s a different Bebe Cool. You hear growth. He sounds like someone who wants to inspire fellow artists. This is the first time we are hearing a Ugandan album sound this good — it sounds truly international,” she emphasized.
Juliana revealed that her favorite song on the album is a track titled “Home”, which according to an inside source, features lush strings and musical depth courtesy of celebrated Ugandan guitarist and composer Myko Ouma. With a catchy pop vibe and dynamic production, Home is already being compared to Bebe’s 2014 hit “Love You Everyday”.
Break the Chains has been in the works for months, and its lead single Circumference, produced by Nigerian heavyweight Philkeys, has stirred strong reactions across Africa since its December 13, 2024 release.
The full album will be available on all major streaming platforms including Spotify, Tidal, YouTube Music, Amazon Music, and Boomplay.
