Retired blogger Kato Ashraf aka Ashburg Kato is back and ready to reclaim his sweat rewards after meeting with singer Bebe Cool whom he claims is going to help him get his own UGx.5B.
Sources say the two recently linked up as efforts intensify to secure Kato a sit-down with President Museveni over the controversial UGX 5 billion fund meant for Ugandan content creators.
Bebe Cool, who has often positioned himself close to power corridors, is reportedly playing mediator trying to calm Kato down and push for his inclusion in the process.
Kato has been loudly claiming he was sidelined from the initiative despite being one of the early figures behind organizing bloggers in Uganda.
“I deserve to be at the top of the list… the President knows me and the work I have done,” Kato said in recent remarks.
Insiders say the meeting with Bebe Cool is part of behind-the-scenes negotiations to resolve the standoff before it escalates further.
The move also signals Bebe Cool’s growing influence in creative industry politics, especially when it comes to bridging gaps between artists, bloggers and government.
