Uganda’s most iconic music group, Afrigo Band, is hitting the golden milestone — and they’re doing it in legendary style. The Legends of Sound: Afrigo@50 concert is slated for Saturday, August 16th at Millennium Grounds, Kampala.
The announcement was made at Sheraton Kampala Hotel by Talent Africa Group, in partnership with Stanbic Bank and FlexiPay, the official ticketing partner. The concert is part of the Legends of Sound series, now in its third edition, which celebrates African music giants. This year, celebrating Afrigo Band, Uganda’s longest-standing and most beloved musical ensemble.
From their humble beginnings in the 1970s, Afrigo Band has crafted the musical DNA of Uganda. Their signature blend of soul, funk, Afrobeat, and local tradition has been the soundtrack to love stories, political eras, and generational shifts.
The concert will bring together Afrigo Band legends including Moses Matovu, Joanita Kawalya, Rachel Magoola, Herbert Kigundu, Sarah Namulondo, Charles Busuulwa, and many more. Fans can expect classic hits performed in a fresh, festival-style format.
Adding even more magic to the night will be Congolese superstar Koffi Olomidé, the “King of Ndombolo,” who is set to electrify the Kampala stage with his iconic performance.
