Nigeria’s Adesope Olajide Flies to Uganda for the Release of Bebe Cool’s ‘Break The Chains’ Album

Celebrated Nigerian media personality Adesope Olajide, popularly known as Shopsydoo or The Energy Gawd, is on his way to Uganda to attend singer Bebe Cool’s “Break The Chains” album release, set for this Thursday, May 29th at Noni Vie.

If you’re plugged into African music, then you already know Adesope is more than just a familiar face—he’s a cultural heavyweight. From his Afrobeats Podcasts to his countless interviews with continental icons, the UK-based broadcaster has become a certified tastemaker and a global ambassador for African sound. In fact, Wizkid himself dubbed him “Afrobeats CNN,” and honestly, that title fits.

Now, he’s landing in Kampala.

And it’s not just another stop on his tour—it’s a big moment for Uganda’s music scene. His presence at Bebe Cool’s album release party is a bridge. A cultural handshake. A major spotlight on Ugandan sound, right from the source. With Adesope’s network and influence, this could be the boost that launches Ugandan Afrobeat talent onto even bigger platforms.

The buzz around Break The Chains has been heating up, especially after the release of “Circumference” and “Motivation”, two singles that revealed a new era Bebe Cool. We’re talking Afrobeat-heavy, globally ready—a reinvention that fans and industry insiders didn’t see coming but are now fully here for.

Adesope has played a major role in pushing African sounds globally—from Burna Boy to Wizkid, CKay to Camidoh, and yes, even Uganda’s own Joshua Baraka. He’s helped shape the global Afrobeats wave long before it became cool, interviewing artists when no one else believed in their potential. With his Afrobeats Podcast, launched in 2020, he’s hosted everyone from Don Jazzy to Yemi Alade, and now, he’s back linking up with Bebe Cool, whom he previously interviewed.
