Uganda has been pushed into mourning following the tragic death of Rajiv Ruparelia, Managing Director of the Ruparelia Group and son to renowned business magnate Sudhir Ruparelia in a gruesome car accident.
The 35-year-old Rajiv died in the early hours of Saturday morning in a gruesome car crash near the Busabala Flyover in Makindye-Ssabagabo, Wakiso District.
According to a police statement issued by Deputy Spokesperson Luke Oweyesigyire, the accident occurred at 1:54 a.m. on May 3, 2025. Rajiv was reportedly driving a white Nissan GTR (UAT 638L) from Kajjansi toward Munyonyo when he lost control and crashed into temporary road barriers at a roundabout on the flyover.
“The vehicle overturned and caught fire upon impact,” Oweyesigyire said. “We have been informed that the driver was Rajiv Ruparelia, and he sadly died at the scene. Investigations are ongoing.”
The news of Rajiv’s sudden death has shocked everyone, Known for his sharp business acumen and leadership within the Ruparelia Group, Rajiv played a significant role in managing the family’s diverse investments in real estate, hospitality, education, and finance.
Rajiv had also grown into a public figure in his own right, often praised for his modern vision and philanthropic efforts.
