Pressure is piling on aspiring politician Nelson Witta, husband to Ugandan singer Vinka, after yet another painful loss in the Isingiro East MP race, with family members now reportedly urging him to quit politics for good.
Witta, who contested as an independent candidate after losing the NRM party ticket in the primaries, once again failed to make it to Parliament. This marks his second consecutive election defeat, further deepening doubts about his political future.
Despite heavy spending and high expectations, the businessman was comfortably beaten by the NRM flag bearer, extending a losing streak that insiders say has become a serious concern at home.
Sources close to the family claim relatives have since advised Witta to walk away from active politics and focus on his personal businesses, arguing that politics has so far delivered more losses than gains.
“Vinka’s husband is now being viewed as unlucky in politics. The feeling at home is that he has tried enough and should concentrate on his businesses and leave politics,” a source told this website.
It is also alleged that Witta spent over UGX 1 billion during the campaign period, a massive investment that reportedly did not sit well with family members, especially after it failed to produce results.
