Comedy Store Founder Alex Muhangi has officially been elected as the new President of The Uganda Comedians Association (TUCA), taking over from Hannington Bugingo, who has led the association since its launch in 2019.
The big announcement was made during a special meeting held at Royal Suites in Bugolobi, where top comedians and stakeholders from Uganda’s comedy industry gathered to discuss how to push the sector forward.
The meeting focused on uniting comedians under one voice and strengthening professionalism within the industry, a move that’s expected to bring fresh energy to Uganda’s comedy scene.
Alex Muhangi, who wears many hats as a comedian, producer, and entrepreneur, now steps into leadership with high expectations from fellow entertainers, given his experience running one of the country’s most successful weekly shows, Comedy Store Uganda.
TUCA, which was officially launched in January 2020, aims to regulate the comedy industry, promote unity, and protect the welfare of comedians across the country.
Fans and fellow comedians have flooded social media with congratulatory messages for Muhangi, wishing him success in steering the association to greater heights.
