Tooro Princess Ruth Nsemere Komuntale Akiiki has touched down in Uganda, all the way from the US, ready to join her brother King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV as he celebrates 30 years on the throne.
The grand party, a.k.a the Ekyooto Ha Mpango Festival, is set for September 10th to 13th at the historic Karukiza Palace, and Princess Ruth’s arrival has added even more excitement to an already hyped-up celebration.
Known as the Batebe (Princess Royal) of Tooro, Komuntale is not just royalty by title—she’s a cultural icon. Her presence at the festival symbolizes unity, heritage, and the revival of Tooro’s rich traditions.
This year’s Ekyooto will be a full cultural feast—think traditional music, dance, fashion, crafts, and Tooro cuisine that will have everyone licking their fingers. King Oyo himself is opening up the palace gates for subjects, guests, and well-wishers to be part of the royal celebrations.
