Fort Portal is about to be lit from September 10th to 13th, all roads will lead to the majestic Karuzika Palace as Tooro Kingdom throws the mother of all parties—Ekyooto Ha Mpango Festival—to celebrate His Majesty King Oyo’s 30 years on the throne.

This is not your usual royal function with long speeches and stiff suits. Nope—this one is a full-blown cultural explosion. Expect traditional Tooro music, endless dance, fashion, crafts, and food that will have you asking for more plates. Think of it as a mash-up of culture, tourism, and community spirit all bundled into four unforgettable days.

King Oyo himself, often called the “coolest king in Africa,” is using this milestone to not only celebrate his reign but also bring his people together. And if you know Oyo, you know he’s not just about royal glamour—he’s also hands-on with agriculture. From dairy farms and mango fields to fish ponds and coffee projects at his famous Model Farm in Kyenjojo, the King has been pushing hard to make farming sexy again and give local farmers real tools like tractors and irrigation.

But even with all that global exposure and modern touch, the young king still protects Tooro’s rich traditions—championing culture, arts, and values so that the next generation grows up proud of who they are.
