You’ve probably seen him cracking jokes on TikTok or closing land deals like a don — but the man they call Director Sozo didn’t just appear from nowhere. His real name is Umaru Kaye, and his is full of twists, sweat and street hustle, to become the person he is today.
Who is Director Sozo? Education Background
Sozo was born in 1995, son to the late Ssalongo Ahmed Buule and Nakayenga Margret.
When he lost his father at just 10 years old, life hit a hard reset. Schooling became hard — the man reportedly attended over 100 schools (yes, you read that right!) from St. Augustine SS Nakifuma to Bweyogerere Standard. At that rate, he should be given a PhD in changing schools.
Street Vendor at 10. Regional Hawker by 15.
After losing his father, young Umaru didn’t sit around waiting for miracles. He hit the streets of Bweyogerere hawking whatever he could find to raise school fees. From there, his hustle expanded — selling across all corners of Uganda: east, west, north, central.

In 2007, another switch happened. He gave his life to Christ and became born-again, sharpening not just his faith but his focus too.
Broker Today, Boss Tomorrow: The Birth of Director Sozo
In 2013, Sozo started moving serious properties. He became a real estate broker, selling land everywhere. While others just closed deals, Sozo observed patterns. He realized many clients lacked basics like household items after buying property. That detail would later become his secret sauce.
By 2017, he went full throttle — and in 2020, he officially registered Sozo Property Consultants Ltd.
When the world went into lockdown in 2020, many businesses collapsed. But Sozo saw it as a chance to pivot. He leaned into the online wave and started using social media to build not just his brand but an entire empire.
Today, his business is valued in the billions, and his face is everywhere — from land billboards to viral reels.
Sozo doesn’t just sell land. The man is out here doing skits, creating content, and cracking ribs online. Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, X — the man is there, delivering both jokes and advice with that raw Ugandan energy.
