Former NTV Uganda presenter Robin Kisti has broken her silence following her arrest earlier this month that saw her spend weeks behind bars but has now opened up.
Rumors had been swirling that Kisti was nabbed for drug abuse and allegedly selling narcotics to school-going children, a claim that sparked outrage online and led to speculation that she had been checked into rehab.
But now, the struggling media personality has come forward to clear the air.
“They came to arrest me over allegations of criminal trespass and assault. I do smoke, yes, but that wasn’t the reason they showed up,” Kisti explained in an interview with Sanyuka Television.
While admitting to smoking weed, she strongly denied the more damaging allegations of selling drugs — especially to minors — and brushed off claims that she’s battling addiction.
“I am not an addict as people claim. I don’t even smoke often,” she emphasized. She also denied ever being admitted into a rehabilitation center.
The claims of drug peddling reportedly stemmed from concerned neighbors who allegedly tipped off authorities, accusing her of influencing school children in the area. But Kisti says those allegations are false and damaging.
