Two suspects have been remanded to Luzira Upper Prison in connection with the death of legendary Afrigo Band musician Moses Matovu.
Vincent Arnold Nsamba, 47, also known as Sitenda, and his co-accused Rose Tumusiime appeared before the Makindye Magistrates Court, where a murder charge was read to Nsamba before the two were sent to custody.
The court did not hear evidence on the merits of the case, as investigations into the circumstances surrounding Matovu’s death are still ongoing.
Nsamba and Tumusiime are expected to return to court on November 3, 2026, when the case will be mentioned as state prosecutors continue with investigations.
Matovu, 77, was a veteran musician and one of the key figures in Afrigo Band. He died at Kibuli Hospital last week after sustaining serious injuries during an early-morning confrontation in Kibuli.
Police opened a murder investigation following his death, with Nsamba subsequently arrested and the circumstances surrounding the confrontation becoming the subject of the ongoing inquiry.
The latest court appearance marks a new stage in the case, although the prosecution has not yet presented evidence for the court to determine the allegations against the accused.
