Kyaggwe County emerged as the biggest winner at the Fortebet Real Stars Sports Monthly Awards for October, following their historic triumph in the Masaza Cup.

The awards saw three key figures behind Kyaggwe’s maiden Masaza Cup title receive recognition, with head coach Ronald Ssali and County Chief, Ssekiboobo Vincent Matovu, honoured with Lifetime Achievement Awards, while their trophy-winning striker, George Kato, walked away with the Football Real Star award.

The awards ceremony was held on Tuesday, November 3, at Molecule Restaurant in Kampala, bringing together outstanding sports personalities from different disciplines.

Speaking after receiving his award, Ssekiboobo Vincent Matovu expressed gratitude to God, the organisers and the sponsors, while promising that Kyaggwe’s success was only the beginning.

“I start by thanking God because if it were not for God’s love, we would not have won the trophy.

“To the organisers of these awards, we are thankful to Fortebet and Jude Colour Solutions. For the Masaza Cup fraternity, this is just the beginning. We cannot be like other Masaza teams that win and rest. We want to continue winning, and next year our hunger will be even greater,” he said.

The trio’s recognition followed their contribution to Kyaggwe’s historic Masaza Cup campaign, which culminated in the county lifting its maiden title.

The awards, organised by Real Stars Sports Agency and sponsored by Fortebet and Jude Colour Solutions, also recognised excellence in other sporting disciplines.

Joseph Ssebantira claimed the Table Tennis Real Star award, while Vannessah Nagawa was named the Boxing Real Star for October following her historic achievement of becoming the first Ugandan female boxer to win a continental gold medal.

The October awards once again celebrated individuals whose performances and achievements continue to make a mark on Ugandan sport.
